How to GTF Trace

  1. Add your GTF trace statements to a member in SYS6.GTF.PARMLIB.  The member should preferably be your RACF userid.

  2. Start GTF with the command:  s gtf,GTFDSN=sys6.gtf.parmlib,member=RACFID

  3. Reply u to the outstanding reply or respecify your trace  statements to  message:  

    AHL125A  RESPECIFY TRACE OPTIONS OR REPLY U

  4. To stop GTF trace issue “p stepname”, where stepname is the stepname under the “DA” command in SDSF.  This is a device UCB such as D011 in the example below:

  1. The trace data set created will be “SYS6.GTF.TRACE.racfid”     (from the member= in the start command.)

  2. If the trace needs to be run multiple times, then the TRACE data set needs to be renamed or deleted before restarting GTF
