Only Jesus' words can be used as the key or primer when you look at Biblical prophesy. The text is found in Matthew 24 if you want to read it.  Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives and the disciples came to him ...

"Tell us," they said,

when will this happen, and

what will be the sign of your coming and

of the end of the age?

 

But Jesus answered it this way ...

when will this happen, and

what will be the signs of the end of the age and

what will be the sign of your coming ?

 

Why is this important?  Because Jesus answered them as only He could.  He answered them in the order things would occur, not in the order they wished they would occur.  I'm awful sorry but if you became a Christian to escape the perceived tribulation that occurs at the end of the age ... you became a Christian for the wrong reason.  Jesus' return would be after the end of the age not before.
